California Proposition 65

What is the California Proposition 65 Warning?

 

California Proposition 65 requires warning labels on products that could possibly contain any of the more than 800 chemicals or ingredients that the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) considers harmful. This list includes a multitude of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals. The listed chemicals may also be used in manufacturing and construction, or they may be byproducts of chemical processes.

 

Since there is always a possibility that our products or packaging materials could have been exposed to some of the hundreds of ingredients listed in Prop 65, we must include this warning below on select products: "WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Antimony trioxide, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer, and Ethylene glycol, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. The products that require this warning are pads, mattresses, and products that come with cushions or pad. In the case of cradles, mini cribs, and changers, the warning is regarding the included pad, and not the furniture. We can assure you that all our cribs and wooden furniture are tested to meet all required CPSC and ASTM standards, which include testing for formaldehyde, phthalates, heavy metals such as lead, and other at-risk substances.

Our products meet current CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) standards and CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) 101 and 108. These acts regulate lead and phthalate levels in children’s products, and all our products are lead and phthalate safe.

SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65?

 

 

We realize that this warning could prompt worry, but we want to reassure you that after the rigorous testing we’ve put all our products through, none have ever been tested positive on our products. Additionally, this warning label is very common and can be found on many piece of furniture sold in the state of California.
